Numbers to 10

We have been learning to recognise, order and correctly form our numbers to ten. Here are some of the activities we do to help us.

Retirement Mass

Mr Wards Retirement Mass is tomorrow in the school at 11:15 am. We will all join together to celebrate the years that Mr Ward has given to teaching. He will be greatly missed by all in St. James's. We look forward to seeing you there.

Primary 1 Challenge

last year our Primary 1's created their very own dream houses at home and then brought them to school. They were fantastic!

This year Primary 1 has a challenge and we would love parents and guardians to get involved too!

Our topic  in class is The Rainbow Fish. We have created our very own display in the class. We have a treasure chest with sounds hidden in it that we are yet to discover! As part as working together with the home we are setting a challenge for all of Primary 1!

Each child has to design their own treasure chest. They can use any junk material they find lying around the house e.g, cereal boxes, old pieces of material, paint, pens, juice bottles etc. They are encouraged to be as imaginative as possible with their treasure chest! Inside they should put something which they treasure and prepare a few short sentences to explain their treasure to the class!  One child’s treasure chest will be chosen by a judge to receive a prize!  Treasure chest should be brought to school on Thursday 9th October. Good luck!

Art

Our new topic is The Rainbow Fish. We have decided to make a display of the ocean in our classroom. We have been making our very own rainbow fish. Here we are hard at work! Keep checking our blog to see the finished fish!

Outdoor learning

We have been learning how to count, order and form mumbers up to 8. We took our learning to the playground to play some games to help us learn.

ICT

We were learning how to use a paint programme on the laptops. We practiced creating shapes with the shape tool to make pictures of houses.

PE

The boys and girls have been in school full time this week and have been loving it! They got their first opportunity to have PE in school. We worked on team work, balance and coordination. Here are some pictures to show you all of the fun they have been having!

Primary One Class Picture

On Monday 8th September the photographer from The Paisley Daily Express will be coming to the school to take a Primary 1 class picture. This will then be printed in the paper and can be a lovely keepsake for your child's first year at school. We can't wait to see their lovely smiles on Monday!
